Issued on 9 Jan 1998, the tiger is the third zodiac animal in the cycle, after the Ox. The Year of the TIGER is said to be a year that is filled with vigour and vitality.

 

ATM Stamp Sheetlet - Dinosaurs


98s02 The ATM stamp sheetlet was introduced in 1993. It is a self-adhesive stamp sheetlet which comprises 15 No-Value Indicator (NVI) stamps and has the same size and thickness as a Singapore $50 note. The current face value of each sheetlet is $3.30.

This Dinosaurs series is the 2nd issue of ATM stamp sheetlet which replace the first issue on 22 April 1998.

 

Songbirds Stamp Issue

This issue consists if 4 four stamps featuring songbirds found in Singapore. The first stamps is a Lesser Green Leafbird (No-value Indicator). The bird on the 60¢ stamps is Magpie Robin and Straw-headed Bulbul is on the 70¢. Yellow-bellied Prinia is on the $1.00 stamp.

 

Self-Adhesive Greetings Stamp Booklet (Hello)


98s04 This Hello Self-Adhesive Stamp Booklet was issue on 20 May 1998. Each stamp booklet contains 10 No-Value Indicator (NVI) stamps in five psychedelic graphic designs of the word "Hello" in a bubble.

 

Fragile Forest Stamp Booklet

There will be two stamp booklets released for this stamp issue on 5 June 1998. Each booklet contains 10 No-Value Indicator (NVI) stamps featuring different animals. The ten animals featured on the stamps are : Rhino Beetle, Surinam Horned Frog, Atlas Moth, Green Iguana, Giant Scorpion, Hissing Cockroach, Two-toed Sloth, Archer Fish, Cobalt Blue Tarantula and Greater Mousedeer.

This set of stamps is released in conjunction with the launch of the Fragile Forest and the 25th Anniversary of the Singapore Zoological Gardens.

 

The Singapore Story Stamp Issue

Issue on 7 Jul 99, this set of four commemorative stamps are released to mark the launch of the National Education Exhibition, a mammoth exhibition organised by the Ministry of Information and the Arts from 7 to 31 July 1998 aimed to educate the young and promote public awareness of the nation's history.

The No-value Indicator stamps shown the turbulent year of Singapore in 1955 - 1959. The Self-Government period of Singapore in 1959 - 1963 is deplicted on the 60¢ stamps. 1961 - 1965 are the time where Singapore merge and then leave Malaysia. Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew declared Singapore an indepentent nation on 9 August 1965 and this is shown on the $2 stamp.

 

Singapore Australia Joint Stamp Issue

Issued on 6 Aug 99, the Singapore-Australia joint issue features a set of four stamps and miniature sheet on Orchids found in the two countries. The Phalaenopsis rosenstromii (No-Value Indicator) and Dendrobium phalaenopsis ($2) are from Queensland, Australia, while the Arundina graminifolia (70¢) and Grammatophyllum speciosum ($1) are from Singapore.

 

Flowers Stamp Issue

Issued on 9 Sep 98, this set of stamps features eight common flowers in Singapore, namely; Canna, Peacock Flower, Wedelia, Yellow Simpoh, Zephyr Lily, Seven Golden Candlesticks, Crab's Claw and Yellow Allamanda.

A miniature sheet, which shows the leaves and fruits of the flowers, and a stamp booklet were released together with this sets of stamps.

 

Festivals Stamp Issue

Released on 7 Oct 99, the Festivals issue consists of 4 No-Value Indicator and 4 (30¢) stamps. The festival showm on these stamps are Hari Raya Pausa a major festival celebrated by the Muslims. Christmas, a joyous and colourful event for Singaporeans and tourists. Chinese New Year a major festival celebrated by the Chinese and Deepavali which is the Hindu New Year.
