Issued on 1 Jan 00, the Dragon is the fifth zodiac animal in the cycle. The Year of the Dragon is said to be an auspicious year and everything will turn out to be better than they actually are. The lucky Dragon is believed to be the guardian of wealth and power. It is a good time to get married, have children and to start a new business. However, it is said that the mighty Dragon will also wreak disasters alongside fortunes.

 

Postal Landmarks Issue

Issued on 8 Mar 00, this set of four stamps features the history of Posts from the first mail office to the state-of-the-art mail processing centre and corporate headquarter. Incorporated in the stamp designs are the datestamps reflecting the respective periods of the postal buildings.

 

Greeting Stamp Booklet - Celebrations

Issued on 10 May 2000 is the Greetings Stamp Booklet that contains 10 No-value Indicator stamps in five psychedelic colours with the words "Yippee", "Yeah", "Hurray", "Yes" and "Happy" appear on each of the stamps with a background of an orchid motif. The stamp designs offer a visual treat and give a warm and friendly greeting with every letter or card.

 

Singapore River Issue

Issued on 21 Jun 2000 is a se-tenant sheet of 10 stamps. The stamps designs capture the Singapore River from the early years up to present. The Singapore River has undergone dramatic transformation since its early days. Before, the Singapore River was filled with lighters and stevedores and bustling with trade activities. With aprd economic development and urban renewal, this way of life had disappeared. Today the waterway is a major leisure and tourist attraction with shaded walkways, art venues, alfresco dining, entertainment and retail shophouse. This issue comprise of five 60 cents and five No-Value Indicator stamps.

 

Stampon' The Future Issue

Issued on 7 Jul 2000, Stampin' The Furture issue consist of a total of 4 stamps and a Souvenir Sheet. The design of these stamps are adapted from the winners of Youth Stamps Design Competition. Children from age group of 8 to 12 are invited to express their visions of the furture on drawings in 1998.
